WALK-ON ASSOCIATION NEWS
While Stan is relaxing
in his Speedo in the Spanish sun, I have the task of writing this report.
The faulty concrete spline
on D walk-on has been removed and replaced by a steel spline, made in
record time by Problast, and we thank Don Voysey. The concrete walk-on is
being repaired and will be back on D walk-on shortly.
One of the strongest
southwesters lately experienced, came through during the night of 7
November and lasted for most of the next day. Port Control
measured 68 knots at times.
It caused havoc on “A” walk-on due to an anchor chain being broken. We thank Hennie vd erwe and Ernest
Boller for assisting during this emergency. We can compliment ourselves on not
having had any more breakages as many other marinas and harbours have
suffered severely.
As A walk-on bears the
brunt of storms, we plan to drop two extra 5 ton anchors to secure it
even more. Once again I appeal to
boat owners to check their mooring lines on a regular basis – don’t wait
for the storms as that may be too late.
You put your boat as well as other boats in jeopardy.
All walk-ons are
occupied at the moment and maybe it is time to plan that walk-on F…
