FROM THE VICE
I cannot believe how
quickly the time went by, it feels like only yesterday that we celebrated
the beginning of 2005. I hope that all your dreams were fulfilled for the
year gone by.
To the yachties from
other countries as well as South Africans visiting yachts: we welcome you at our Club and hope
that you have a wonderful stay in our beautiful country and town.
The Club’s lawn and
gardens is in excellent condition (thanks Mike & Ina ) and with the
Restaurant now in full swing under Otto & Inge’s control, you must
treat your self and your family to a meal at our Pelican Bar, or simply
come down for a braai or a
sundowner at the
deck. Monday night braais also seem to become
quite an item,
with some excellent
entertaining skills being practiced and lots
of stories being
told…
It is so good to see
so many people supporting the bar, thank you
guys and girls. To Virginia and the Bar staff a great
round of
applause - keep up the
good work! Otto & Inge have
been
appointed as manager /
manageress for the Bar and will take
over duties from Virginia in due
course.
On a less festive note
I just want to remind those members that
have dinghies without
stickers parked at the Club, to please buy
your parking sticker
at the office asap (These stickers are numbered
for administration purposes). This is your last chance, as boats that
do not display parking
stickers will be auctioned off in the New Year.
I would also like to
take this opportunity to wish all our members, their
families, our visitors
and last but not least our staff, a blessed Christmas and a phenomenal
2006 filled with success, fun and laughter.
Cheers,
Flash
Gordon
Most of us are relatively
new to the office structures of ZLYC and often find that the accounts and
administrative duties have an amazing number of tentacles and working on
these often take much longer than expected. But we are proud to report that we are
making definite progress! There are however, little gremlins in the
vineyard with which you as members can assist us tremendously, and in
that way help us to use our time more effectively.

TELEPHONE
SERVICE?
Please don’t use
us as the local telephone directory, and try to find alternative
means of locating other member’s contact numbers. You would be surprised at how much
time is wasted on this trivial task!

WALK-ON AND GARAGE SALES
In both cases the
transactions must be handled by the office and a handling fee is kept
by the Club: for Garages R2,000 and for Walk-ons R2,500.

LOST AND FOUND
A bunch of keys and
a pair of reading glasses
were handed in
at the office

DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!
Please be patient
in telephone conversations and when enquiring about accounts. In most of the cases we did not
create the problem but want to solve it as much as you do!

LEASE DOCUMENTS
Some of you have
received letters notifying you that we do not have signed lease
agreements for your garages and/or walk-ons on file. In some cases we have undertaken to
forward these leases to you for completion. This process has been
delayed, as some of the information on these lease forms is
outdated. It is receiving
attention and we will continue with this activity in due course.
